I tell you, it feels rather strange for my bum to be back in an office chair. We here at Design Monarchy had such a lovely, not to mention well-deserved, festive break. Last year was a busy, exciting and successful year for us and we said goodbye to 2015 in grateful celebration. Even though we are still shaking off some sweet holiday lethargy, I have this feeling that 2016 is going to be a GOOD year! In fact, I think we should keep some champagne on ice because…
“I’ve decided that 2016 will be an unbelievably-wonderful, astoundingly-phenomenal, staggeringly-stupendous year!”
The Design Tabloid has once again been entered into South African Blog Awards! We have registered for the Lifestyle as well as the Arts & Craft category which means we are up against some tough competition. We therefore need YOUR vote! No matter who you are or where you are from if you have enjoyed reading our blog as much as we have loved sharing our passion and knowledge with you – feel free to show your appreciation by voting and passing it on!
Now, the public vote phase will run from today, Tuesday 1 December 2015, until Monday 8th January 2016 at 23:59.
Voting is super easy – just click on the VOTE badge – you will be directed to the SA Blog Awards website where your vote for The Design Tabloid will automatically be entered. Yay!
After placing your vote, you will be sent a confirmation email, which you have to respond to in order to confirm your vote… and, I suppose, to ensure that you are not some programmed robot.
Also be warned – you can only vote for ONE blog per category. Should you decide to vote for another blog in the same category as The Design Tabloid (which is the Lifestyle / Arts & Crafts categories) you will lose the original vote, as your new vote will override the initial vote.

Diana Rankin, of Perfume Power, and Liesl van der Hoven, of Fairy Caravan, gave us a “101” lesson on the basics of e-commerce. […]
Ahoy there guys and gals and very happy 2015 to you all! I hope you had a splendid and restful festive break and wonderful start to the new year!
As of today Rose and I are also officially back in the saddle. We had quite an exciting and busy 2014. A definite 2014 highlight for me was a super cool interior design job we did in East London (think quirky Scandi with pops of brilliant colour). The Design Tabloid Facebook page also celebrated reaching a 1000 likes! Yay!
Here are some of the things we here at The Tabloid are looking forward to in 2015… Design Indaba (of course!), the completion of our World Design Capital Project (i.e. Groote Schuur Hospital Surgery Ward makeover) AND the official launch of our spanking new Design Monarchy website (we are still ironing out some bugs but we’ll be sure to let you know when all systems are go).
Rose and I will also be doing some R&D on a very exciting, top secret project-thingy which will keep us on our toes during 2015.
Good things to come this year people, good things to come! Keep your eyes peeled…
Wishing all our readers and friends a Merry Christmas and a joyous festive season!
It’s that time of the year again! Time to eat & drink too much, celebrate and be merry – not to mention put the feet up! Thank you for all your support during the year – we truly appreciate it! We loved sharing our passion for design, décor and generally pretty things with you this past year!
Since our studio will be closed for business from today till the 12th of January 2015, The Design Tabloid will slow its pace a bit in terms of posts. Keep your eyes peeled however – next year brings BIG and exciting things for us here at the Design Monarchy!
Have a good one, guys and gals! Design Tabloid out!
