Instagram Inspiration: November

Most mornings, while enjoying our first cup of coffee and checking our emails, we also take some time to browse through Pinterest and Instagram. It is part of our studio routine and, I would say, one of the key perks off being in the interior design and decorating trade. Seriously, we get paid to look at beautiful images – let’s just call it “Research & Development” shall we.

Every week we spot these amazing, inspirational, drop-dead gorgeous and down-right desirable images on Instagram. From beautiful interiors, furniture, and fabrics to lovely eateries and spaces, delicious-looking food and oh-so-fashionable apparel.

We would love to share this visual inspiration with you. Each month we will post a roundup of our favourite Instagram finds – anything that made us go “wow” or weak at the knees. The instant-likes that turned into #instalove.

Let’s kick off with the lovely feature image above.

This lovely wall light… (feature image above)

Blogger, Niki Brantmark of My Scandinavian Home, shared this inspirational image of a lovely little corner in her home. If you browse through her Instagram feed you will notice that this living room nook in her apartment in Sweden has changed and morphed multiple times over the years. I love the current configuration though!

The feature that first drew me was the gorgeous dove grey and brass long-arm wall light. The ever-evolving collection of framed art and prints on the gallery wall above her sofa further adds to the lovely Scandi feel.

This very chic-looking bunk bed…

Now isn’t this the most elegantly put together kids room you have ever seen? Designed by Amber Lewis of LA-based Amber Interior Design Studio, this space is all kinds of beautiful. From the sleek fitted bunk beds with wooden ladder and trim to the built-in book niches at the head of each bed. Not to mention the floating shelf storage unit at the foot of the beds and the stunning brass wall light fittings. The bright white and lovely rusty pink / coral colour scheme is so pretty to boot.

It’s clean, it’s contemporary, and it’s chic, yet playful and feminine enough for a little girl’s bedroom.

This lovely colour palette…

Love Ceramic shared the lovely handcrafted work of French ceramist and artisan, Marion Graux of mariongrauxpoterie. Marion designs and manufactures exclusive and gorgeous handcrafted ceramic tableware and dishes for the hospitality and restaurant industry.

The image of the plate collection above is called “Minéral” and features a beautiful muted colour palette that can be considered both neutral and feminine.

This serene dining space…

Livingetc Magazine posted a lovely image of a calm dining corner designed by Sydney-based interior design studio Decus Interiors.

The use of feminine blush pink in combination with a masculine black gives this bright white space a chic and contemporary edge. The lovely black and natural rattan Thonet cane dining chairs and contemporary framed artwork by South African Visual Artist Justin Dingwall makes this one striking space.

These delectable sweet delights…

The following share needs no explanation as to why it desirable.

Every. single. day. Pajamas + Jam Eatery in the Strand share the most gorgeous snaps of their delicious food – anything from sweet treats, the latest lunch offering, savoury bites to bountiful breakfasts and creamy cups of coffee.

These gorgeous, delicate cheesecakes with their beautiful petal and meringue decoration however take the “cake” – apologies for the obvious cake pun. I’m afraid it is a little too much for my willpower to handle.

This texture & colour combo…

Warwick Fabrics UK shared a close-up snap of one of Dutch brand, Perletta’s, handcrafted rugs as spotted at Design London Festival (previously 100% Design). The varying textures and beautiful combination of colour is simply stunning.

Don’t you just want to run your hand over it? So tactile.

This whimsy illustration…

South African illustrator and artist Monja Viljoen of Deerly Studio shared this recent illustration that evokes some serious summer holiday feels!

Not unlike this lovely sketched lady, this December holiday will find me in a bather and wide-brim straw hat reading a good book next to a sparking pool. How about you?

This yellow velvet sofa (and cat)…

Dutch blogger and stylist Marij Hessel of My Attic shared this happy shot of her striking apartment living room located in Rijen, The Netherlands.

Reasons to love this photograph:

  1. A comfortable and plush-looking mustard yellow velvet sofa.
  2. A lovely gallery wall which includes a beautiful fleshy-coloured Van Gogh self-portrait on an equally fleshy-coloured wall.
  3. A sassy white cat with two different coloured eyes.

This ritzy bar…

Robin Sprong shared a project which featured a quirky foliage-and-monkeys wallpaper design from the Franco Moz artist collection.

The gorgeous interior belongs to the recently launched Magnolia Social Dining Lounge at the Erinvale Estate Hotel & Spa in Somerset West. The bold and exquisitely decorated restaurant and bar, designed by Clinton Savage Interiors, features moody shades of green, dusty coral and mustard yellow.  Furniture and lighting designer Ernst H designed and crafted the striking hexagonal brass wall lights as well as the antiqued brass cladding on the show-stopping bar area.

Cocktail anyone?

This beautiful nook…

LA-based photographer Tessa Neustadt shared an interior shot from one of her favourite spaces.

This beautiful seating nook happens to be in the home actress Mandy Moore. The plump and comfortable built-in sofas in a rich ochre velvet creates a striking contrast in the sunny all-white space. This “considered corner”, along with the rest of Mandy’s home was designed by interior and product designer, Sarah Sherman Samuel.
